A Spiritual Answer to Negative Attitudes

A Spiritual Answer to Negative Attitudes

The grace and power of God shall not fail.

2 Corinthians 6:1-10 (ESV) ~ Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love; by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left; through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.

All of us can look back over our past and see things that we wish had been different. We can think of things we wish we had done differently, said differently, and decided differently. We know that we cannot change what has already happened. What we can do is learn from the past and neutralize the negatives in our lives. We tend to become programmed for negative thinking. In order to change our lives we must change the program we have put into our minds. Life is determined by the attitudes and principles we live by.

The Corinthians Church faced a lot of Negatives:

  • They were confused on doctrine
  • They were carnal in their habits
  • They sinned and excused it
  • They were confused about the meaning of marriage
  • They were corrupting the spiritual gifts
  • They didn’t understand what it meant to be a Christian

Build Life on Faith in God and He will Help You Face Negatives:

  • Guard against vulnerabilities through prayer
  • Program your thinking through personal prayer
  • Discipline your desires through spiritual development
  • Stabilize your relationships by congruent, holy living
  • Strive to be consumed by the power of God so you can overcome anything

When we are at our weakest, the Bible speaks the strongest. The grace and power of God will never fail to lift us up. The Lord will sustain us through anything if we turn to Him. Let us see our present circumstances as only temporary experiences preparing us for the consummation of our eternal life with Christ.
