Church Health

Church Growth is good, and very much needed. Growth in numbers (attendance and financial). Growth in each department. Growth is good, but Church Health is a GREAT necessity.

Ephesians 4:15-16 (ESV) ~ Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

  • Also note, ALL believers within a church must be involved in the work of the ministry.

  • Church health is the key to church growth. All living things grow if they are healthy. You do make them grow, they just grow.

  • There are hindrances to the grow of a child, such as poor nutrition or an unsafe environment, and if hindrances are removed, growth is natural.

  • If your child doesn’t grow, you do what is necessary to find the reason for non-growth and you fix the problem. The same should be true about the church body.

  • The church is a body – it is alive! It must be healthy to grow!

  • Healthy, lasting church growth is a process, sometimes a slow process, but it is a process. Every church needs to grow …

  • Warmer through fellowship
  • Deeper through discipleship
  • Stronger through worship
  • Broader through ministry
  • Larger through evangelism

Acts 2:42-47 (ESV) ~ And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
