Things That Need to be Fixed

Psalm 57:7 (KJV) ~ My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.

When you need your computer fixed, they simply follow the book.

When the doctor needs to fix your body, they simply follow the book.

When the banker is needing to fix your finances, they simply follow the book.

When our lives need to be fixed, we need to simply follow the book.

What does THE BOOK say that needs to be fixed in our lives?

  • Our Hearts need to be Fixed – with Salvation from the Lord
    • Romans 10:9-10 (KJV) ~ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
    • There must be a revelation of God: We are to preach the Scriptures and Reveal God to Man.
    • There Must be a Repentance of Sin: Luke 13:3 (KJV) ~ I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
    • There Must be a Reception of the Savior: Romans 10:13 (KJV) ~ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
  • Our Heads Need to be Fixed – With Scriptural Knowledge
    • Some believers, their head is a little loose.
    • Where are the believers who stand on the Word of God?
    • Why do we have some many believers who want to water down the Word? Get so close to the world beliefs?
    • 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) ~ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
    • We as believers need NOT to be ashamed of what the Word of God says.
    • We are to study and be able to rightly divide the Word of God.
    • We are to study the Word of God and rightly divide it. The words “rightly divide” (orthotomounta PWS: 3331) means to cut straight, handle accurately, and correctly explain. Believers are to cut straight to the truth; they are not to take crooked paths and side tracks to the truth. We are to study the truth and rightly divide it. Once we have studied and learned the Word of God, we are to accurately teach the Word of God. We are not to teach…
      • Our own ideas
      • The theories of other people
      • What we think
      • What other men think
    • We are not to mishandle the Word of God: twist it to fit what we think or want it to say; over-emphasize or under-emphasize its teachings; add to or take away from it. Any person who mishandles God’s Word is not approved of God. This is the point of this verse: if we want God’s approval—if we want to be acceptable to God—we must study, rush, and seek to be a true teacher of God’s Word. We must be workmen who study God’s Word, workmen who study diligently: who correctly analyze and accurately divide—rightly handle and skillfully teach—the Word of Truth (Amplified New Testament). This is the believer who will not be ashamed when he faces the Lord Jesus Christ in the great day of judgment.
  • Our Hands Need to be Fixed – With Service for our Lord
    • James 2:15-18 (ESV) ~ If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
    • Note that James pulls no punches: it is not a matter of faith OR works. To say and profess faith alone will not save a person, and to follow works to because acceptable to God will not save a person. James handles both men of arrogance with one clear statement: “Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
    • A person who truly believes in Christ works for Christ. He follows and lives for Christ. A person who only professes Christ lives for himself, going about doing what he wants when he wants. He does not live a life of separation from the world, a life of righteousness and purity, nor does he give all he has to meet the desperate needs of this world. He professes Christ, but lives for the pleasure and things of this day and time. He knows nothing of the life of Christ, of the sacrificial giving and living that Christ lived and demands.
  • Our Eyes Need to be Fixed – With the Sight of Sinners
    • Mark 16:15 (ESV) ~ And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
    • The Great Commission is a straight-forward command. It is a brief, yet forceful and uncompromising: GO – preach. Jesus makes two critical points:
      • It is the gospel that is to be preached. We are not to preach out own thoughts and ideas, humanistic and man-centered beliefs, world religions and philosophies. We are to preach the gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the news which the world desperately needs to hear.
      • The gospel is to be carried “into all the world” and preached “to every creature.” The gospel is the news which everyone needs to hear.
        • The Great Commission was given to the whole church, to every believer. It is a permanent commission given to the church of every generation, not only to the first disciples. Note the words, “He that believeth” (Mark 16:16) and “them that believe” (Mark 16:17). After a person believes and is baptized, Jesus says the person goes forth with power and signs while he preaches the gospel (Mark 16:16-17). Every believer who is genuinely saved is to spread the gospel.
        • The Great Commission does not consider difficulties, dangers, or barriers to be reasons for not going. Jesus didn’t discuss excuses for not sharing the gospel. His command was an uncompromising demand. The issue of eternal life vs. eternal damnation is too critical an issue to allow anything to stop the gospel from going forth. The gospel must be carried forth. No land is to be neglected, no people are to be ignored. The believer is to be undaunted and unserved from the Great Commission.
      • We must realize that every person we meet is a candidate for Heaven. None are excluded.
    • Our Feet Need to be Fixed – With Steps ordered from God
      • Psalm 37:23 (ESV) ~ The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way;
      • As a soldier of the cross we are to follow God’s orders.
