I Resign

Isaiah 43:16-19 ~ “Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

From the beginning of the ministry God has placed me in to serve through 2016 …

  • I’ve tried to keep people motivated to serve God with their gifts and in many cases failed
  • I’ve tried to get people to get committed to God’s word through discipleship and in some cases failed
  • I’ve tried to fix marriages and in some cases failed
  • I’ve tried to get people to trust God with their finances and in most cases failed
  • I’ve tried to challenge people to serve and in some cases failed
  • I’ve tried to keep people in church but some have stopped coming
  • I’ve tried to keep communication alive within our CV FAMILY and in some cases failed
  • I’ve tried to be kind but still challenge people with the burden of discipleship and for some it was rejected
  • I’ve tried get people to worship rather than watching others worship but some still watch
  • I’ve tried to grow a church, tried to get people to put God first, tried to heal wounds, tried to make things happen and tried to get people to follow my leadership only to discover that in many cases I have failed

All these being said, I have resigned and give it all to God.

  • If you want to be a disciple and use your gifts for His kingdom and serve His church, then we have ways for you to do just that. If you don’t, then it is your choice.
  • If you want to fight, complain, be critical, and give up, then you must talk to God about it. I am here to listen only, it is Him you must talk to.
  • I am ok with the fact that people may think they are rejecting me or the church, but their rejection is of God.
  • I am happy that He is in charge and it is His requirements of discipline that is received or rejected.

The year 2017 is going to be an amazing and wonderful year at Coosa Valley. I personally believe that this is going to be a year of a NEW SEASON and NEW GREAT UNEXPECTED things at CV!

As God, has placed me as the Lead Pastor to guide His church here at Coosa Valley, I make the following commitment to you. I challenge you to make these commitments yourself, for the ministry you work in and are called by God to serve.

  • I make a commitment to move beyond the inward drift in our church. We have committed to many outreach ministries and I commit to continue to look for ways we can be the hands and feet for God.
  • I make a commitment to renew our attitude. God has called us to serve in the messiness of life and people. We all can use renewal of our attitude toward others and towards our life situations.
  • I make a commitment to become more grateful. It can be natural to focus on the negative, the naysayers and nitpickers. But we need to turn to prayer and ask for supernatural help in focusing on all the blessings God give us.
  • I make a commitment to be a leader of greater faith and courage. This commitment cannot be realized in our own strength and power. But we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
  • I make a commitment to have more family time. A focus has been placed for more family time during the month of December. We can get so busy with ministry work, that family time becomes almost non-existent.
  • I make a commitment to clear the church of clutter. By clutter, I mean the clutter of bitterness, strife, discord.
  • I make a commitment to be an Acts 6:4 leader. If we are not giving focused attention to prayer and the ministry of the Word, we need to get out of ministry. Ministry has become human-powered rather than God-centered.
Acts 6:4 ~ “But we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
