What Are You Leaving in the Graveyard?

What Are You Leaving in the Graveyard?

Luke 24:5 (ESV) ~ “And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?”

John 20:6-7 (ESV) ~ “Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.”

We see in both of these passages of scripture evidence that Jesus has risen from the dead.

In Luke 24:5, we have an angel of the Lord asking a question, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” Church, we are a LIVE church, not a dead church. We as Christians that worship a LIVING Savior need to start being a LIVE church to those around us.

In John 20:6-7, we have Simon Peter looking into a tomb. He seeing the linen cloths laying there, just as if Jesus’ body was still wrapped up in them, but they are laying flat. We also have the face cloth laying to the side, folded with care. This is very important for John and the other disciples. Seeing the linen clothes penetrated John’s mind, and he remembered Jesus’ prophecy that He would arise. John realized what had happened and he believed.

I want to ask you a question about the linen cloths that are laying inside the tomb, left by Christ inside the tomb, after He arose. As Christians, when we became ALIVE in Christ, was are some of the things we should have LEFT IN THE TOMB?

Additions, Attitudes, Hang-ups, Guilt, Shame, Worthless-ness

Proverbs 6:16-19 (ESV) ~ “There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.”

1 Corinthians 1:10 (ESV) ~ “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.”

Philippians 1:27 (ESV) ~ “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel,”
