Sunday Morning, December 11, 2016

Genesis 6:8-22

  • Verses 8-12 shows that Noah finds grace in the eyes of God
  • Verses 13-22 tells Noah how to build and fill the ark. It also states that Noah did ALL that God commanded him.

1 Corinthians 10:13 ~ There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God is Purposeful

  • The day of grace had run out
  • The depth of sin was widespread
  • God was ready to do something about it

God is powerful

  • “I, even I” (Genesis 6:17)
  • All that happened was a violation of God
  • Always beware of God’s power

God is Practical

  • He provides a workable means of escape
    • Note just the general conception
    • This was not just a ship, but a great floating box
  • He provides for the preservation of animals
    • God rounded them up
    • Were they aware of the danger?
    • God made provision for sustenance
  • God provides for Noah’s occupation and peace of mind

God is Prescient

  • He saw the righteousness of Noah
    • He made provision to spare Him
    • He made it worth being spared for
  • He left room for Noah’s responsibility
    • It was absolutely crucial that Noah obey
    • Genesis 6:22 ~ “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
  • God promises to make a covenant with Noah

Conclusion:

All these things are still true of God and all are also personally true. Among other things, “Nothing just happens; it is planned.” God always suits things to accomplish His ends in the best way possible. God knows all that will happen and that can happen.
