Walking with God (Part Two)

Genesis 51:21-24 ~ “And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
  • Our Christian life is a walk – a journey which requires dedication, courage and persistence.
  • Our Christian life is a walk – calls for self-surrender, a fully yielded life and an intense desire to please God rather than ourselves.
Three things about this spiritual walk: First, this is a walk with God.
  • This is not an ordinary walk and you do not keep company with the ordinary.
  • You are walking with God.
Three things about this spiritual walk: Second, this walk is a walk of faith.
  • Hebrews 11:5 ~ “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
  • Hebrews 11:6 ~ “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
  • Walking in faith means walking in the power of God; because God is power.
  • This being true we don’t have to be spiritually sick or anemic, but mighty through God that gives us power.
  • Walking by faith also means growing in Christ.
  • Colossians 2:6, 7 ~ “As ye have therefore received Christ, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
    • In this passage, Paul talks about the four elements of the Christian Walk.
      • Walking – Express life
      • Growing – expresses and inner power
      • Building Up – shows the progress of character until God perfects His work in us.
      • Abounding – Reflects abundance of joy and proper attitude for the marvelous benefits of God.
    • If you walk with God, you grow in Christ. You will walk, grow, build, and abound.
Three things about this spiritual walk: Third, this walk leads home.
  • Hebrews 11:5 says that Enoch was translated, which means “carried over” or “carried across”.
1 Thessalonians 2:12 ~ “That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
